DCMA offer a range of training courses and workshops for childcare practitioners, our current courses are listed below.

 

Paediatric First Aid for Child Care Practitioners

 

 

Course Availibility

 

Child care practitioners/settings must hold a paediatric first aid qualification as a condition of the Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare Requirements. .  

 

This is a 12 hour paediatric first aid course, certified for 3 years and conforms to Ofsted requirements.  This course runs 9.30 - 4pm over two days.

 

 

 

 

If you can provide 6 - 8 participants DCMA can arrange to run a course or workshop below at your preferred date, time and location.

Introduction to Childcare Practice

 

 

Course Availibility

 

An introductory course delivered over four sessions, covering the business side of childminding, working with parents, child protection and setting limits to behaviour and the five outcomes of Every Child Matters; be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, making a positive contribution and organisation.  The course concludes with a Multiple Choice Question paper conducted under exam conditions.  Successful completion of the Introduction to Childcare Practice will result in you gaining Unit one of the Diploma in Home-based Childcare a CACHE qualification.

This course runs 9.30am - 4pm daily.

Course Availibility

 

Sit the Multiple Choice Question paper required to complete Unit 1 of the Diploma in Homebased Childcare, incorporating an opportunity to undertake a practice paper and ask questions prior to sitting the exam.   This is a 3 hour session including the exam time: 45 minutes.

Further Information

 

This is a level 3 qualifcation which is split into five separate units.   Each unit is certified.  Unit 1 details above.  Follow on units can be completed at the learner's own pace.  To gain the Diploma in Home-based Childcare all five units have to be successfully completed.

 

Safeguarding Children Level 2 Training Course

 

 

Course Availibility

 

This course covers the definition of child abuse, the different categories, signs and symptoms, contributory factors leading to abuse, dealing with disclosure and referrals to Children and Young Peoples Service (Social Services).  It is aimed at anyone working with children and young people.  This is a 3 hour course.

Business Workshop

 

 

Course Availibility

 

A practical workshop to assist childminders to be more confident and better equipped in the business side of childminding.  By the end of the workshop you will understand how to record and report financial information required by HM Revenue and Customs.

This is a 2 hour workshop.

Marketing Workshop

 

 

Course Availibility

 

A workshop to assist childminders / early years providers to think positively about promoting their business, identifying their unique selling points.  This is a 2 hour workshop.

 

This workshop also contributes towards Unit 3 of the Diploma in Home-based Childcare. 

 

Food Safety Awareness  for Child Carers

 

 

Course Availibility

 

A workshop to raise awareness of Food Safety for childminders / early years providers.  

 

This is a 2 hour workshop.

 

Risk Assessment for Child Carers

 

 

Course Availibility

 

A workshop to assist childminders / early years providers to think positively about risk assessment in their setting.  

 

This is a 2 hour workshop.

 

Diploma in Home-based Childcare Awareness

 

 

Course Availibility

 

A workshop to assist childminders / home-based providers to think positively about continuing their professional development with a level 3 qualification.

 

Providers who have passed their Unit 1 of the DHC will be presented with their certificates during the workshop.

 

This is a 2 hour workshop.

 

SEN Workshop

 

 

Course Availibility

A workshop to assist practitioners to develop an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, challenges and rewards of working with children with additional  needs, to build on existing skills and to become familiar with the Code of Practice requirements and CAF

This is a 2 hour workshop.
