Childminders

Are you worried about the Early Years Foundation Stage?

The Early Years Foundation Stage became statute on the 1st September 2008, childcare providers - registered childminders, pre-schools, nurseries or schools - will be working to the Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare Requirements and the Six Areas of Learning.

If you have not yet received your copy of the Early Years Foundation Stage call the DfES publications department 0845 6022260 and quote ref: 00261-2008PCK-EN.

DCMA have a range of publications available to support you with the Welfare Requirements including risk assessment record books, Fire Log record books and observation, assessment and planning record keeping.

Please do not feel at all threatened by the new pack, whilst there are some new areas to learn about, most of it is reiterating in writing what you may already be doing in practice.

If you are feeling anxious or concerned and you feel you need more help, then join the DCMA family, and we will be pleased to assist you stepping up to the challenges the new framework may be presenting to you.

If you are a member of DCMA remember we are here to help you adjust and give you the support you need to ensure you achieve the best you can for the children
