Understand how to set up a home based childcare service
The
aim of this course is to prepare learners to work as
home-based child carers / childminders. As well as
learning relevant aspects of childcare, this knowledge
based unit supports the development of policies and
procedures important to registration and the basic
business skills to set up a home-based childcare service
Learning
Outcomes:

how to set up a home based childcare service
- Understand
how to establish a safe and healthy home based environment
for children
- Understand
the importance of partnerships with parents for
all aspects of the home based childcare service
- Understand
the principles of development of routines for home
based child care
- Understand
how to provide play and other activities for children
in home based settings that will support equality
and inclusion
- Understand
how home based child carers can support the safeguarding
of children in their care
- Understand
the principles of suppporting positive behaviour
in home based childcare settings
Certificate:
Successful
assessment of this course will result in you achieving
Unit CYPOP 5 which is one optional Unit of the Level 3 Diploma
for the Children and Young People's Workforce.
How
to Book your place as Distance Learning:
This course
can be achieved by distance learning for anyone living
in England read our Distance Learning option below.
Alternatively
you could have the option to attend a taught course
which is held in Plymouth or we can organise a course
at your location for a fee, minimum numbers apply.
For
those working in Plymouth:
Plymouth
City Council (PCC) fund this training for prospective
childminders within the Plymouth boundaries who
have attended a pre registration briefing session.
You have the option of distance learning or taught
course, both options require the building of a portfolio
which is assessed.
Download
and complete the Data Registration and Booking and Funding
Request Forms below and send them to PCC to check for
your eligibility for funding.
When
you have confirmation of your funding please contact DCMA
Administrator to book your preferred course.

For
those working in Devon:
Devon
County Council part fund this training for prospective
childminders within the Devon boundaries who have attended
a pre registration briefing session. If you can
evidence experience of working in childcare and hold
a level 3 qualification you may be able to complete
the distance learning training otherwise you are required
to attend a taught course, dates below.
Devon
County Council require all Learners to contribute £50
towards the cost of their training. You can book
online via Devon's My CPD website or contact DCMA
Administrator to book your place.
Distance
Learning option:
This
distant learning option is available to prospective
and registered childminders in England, you don't
have to live in Devon to benefit from our support and
expertise.
Studying
in this way allows you to learn in
your own time without having to leave home providing you with Tutor support by email or phone as
required and includes the assessment of your portfolio.
When
booking please enter 'distance learning' when asked
to enter date and venue.
Taught
course option:
Taught
courses are currently run in Devon and Plymouth. DCMA are
able to deliver taught courses elsewhere by negotiation
for a fee, minimum numbers apply.
Both
options involve your commitment
to homework and building a portfolio. Guided
learning hours for the course are 29 but you
can work at your own pace; complete it in two weeks
or take a two months!
